Our World-Earth and Plants

Nursery 1 is continuing "Our World" unit. This past week, we learned all about earth and plants.
We discovered that a seed needs a few things to grow into a plant:
1) Earth/ Dirt
2) Water
3) Sunlight
We had so much fun exploring how dirt feels and smells. Our friends got to feel dirt and seeds.
We also planted our own seeds in the Play Yard! We planted flower seeds (Zinnias) and Peas!

Nursery 1 also got to see how a seed sprouts into a plant! Look at our flowers that we planted for our virtual Har Sinai! Most of the seeds already sprouted!

We also worked very hard to make a book all about plants.

Our friends even know it by heart!
"Plant a seed in the ground,
The rain makes a shower,
The sun shines his bright light,
Pop goes a Flower!"
We also read a book about the parts of a plant called "Stems"

Butterflies

Nursery 1 was very excited to discover on Friday morning that our cute caterpillars have finally turned into cocoons (chrysalis)! We put them in our vivarium to hatch!

Our friends also enjoyed reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.

We know that a caterpillar wraps itself in a cocoon, and after a couple of weeks, it changes into a butterfly!

Letter Nun

Nursery 1 learned the letter Nun last week! Nun makes a NNN sound. We know that Nun is for Naomi, Ner (candle), and Nosson (Tova Leahs brother).
We made a special "Nun" that looks like a "Ner" (candle)

Our friends also played a fun Aleph Beis review game

Colors of the Rainbow!

Nursery 1 friends had so much fun learning about the colors of the rainbow! We played and exciting parachute activity with colors!
