ALL ABOUT ME UNIT- continuation

Our class started off the week with continuing our "All about me" unit.  We explored homes, what items are inside a home and how we can use these items to help us. We learned that in our homes we have a :

A bed for resting

a stove and oven for cooking food
a refrigerator to keep our food cold

a table to eat, play and do activities on

a bathroom to keep ourselves clean and healthy
a bathtub to wash in

and of course, our family!!
We did a special project about our homes.

Nursery 1 started to learn about our bodies this week!
We know that we have many different body parts to do special jobs. We have hands, feet, a tummy, a head, a face with 2 eyes, 1 nose, 1 mouth and 2 ears.
All of our body parts are made to do good things.
We read a couple of books about our bodies.

We know that hands are for being gentle and that all of the parts of our bodies are meant to be used for good things. For example, we have mouths to smile at a friend, eat healthy food etc.

Our class knows that its very important to take good care of our bodies. We can do this by eating healthy food, washing ourselves (hands, body, teeth) by resting and getting exercise.

Brushing teeth and keeping our bodies healthy is very important!
Our class also had fun tracing each others bodies! Our friends got to see how tall each of us is, and we analyzed the shape of our feet, hands and head.

Our friends also played an exciting game of "head, shoulders, knees and toes..."

Shapes- A Review

We started off  the week with a fun review of shapes.  Nursery 1 friends collected items from around the classroom that had a basic shape form.  We found:

A RECTANGLE tissue box
A CIRCLE sprinkles container
A CIRCLE wheel
A SQUARE tin pan
A TRIANGLE piece of pizza

We also made exciting shapes collages.

Leah, Mark and Benjamin are choosing shapes for their collage
Leah, Tova Leah and Mark are putting the finishing touches to their shapes masterpieces!
Brandon figured out how to peel the stickers off of the sheet! Good work Brandon!
Our friends also had fun playing Playful Patterns, a Shapes game that focuses on developing good comprehension of basic shapes, problem solving skills, and creativity.

Our Families

Our class continued our unit "ALL ABOUT ME". We started to learn about our families. We know that every one of us has a family that is special.
Some of our friends have sisters or brothers or both!
We all have a Mom, Dad, Grandparents etc...
The children learned that some families are big and some families are small.
We even learned a rhyme:
Some families are big,
Some families are small,
But I love my family best of all!

We hung pictures of our families in the kitchen center for all of our friends to see.
Our friends had lots of fun drawing our own pictures of our families!

Busy drawing our families!

WELCOME BACK!

Monday was our first day back! We really missed our friends and our classroom. We are so happy to see all of friends well.
We spoke about the reason why all the children stayed home for a week.  Leah Aron told us that there was lots of water.  We discovered that when too much water goes into places that its not supposed to be (like our homes, cars, streets, etc...) it can make a BIG mess.  All of our friends are happy that everyone is OK. We are hoping to see the rest of our friends soon!
