Sukkos is coming soon and Mark is getting ready to build a Sukkah for our class.

Mark and Mariella are busy building a Sukkah. We got to explore some new tools that we have never seen before.  I wonder which tool Mariella is holding. Can you guess?

Leyla and Tova Leah are putting on their working gloves. They know that its important to protect our hands when we work with wood.

On Sukkos, there is a special Mitzvah to shake the Lulav and Esrog.  Tova Leah is showing our friends how!

The Beginning of Our Second Week of School

We started off our second week with a colorful activity of RED play dough!  Our Nursery friends enjoyed shaping, rolling and squishing the play dough. We learned that many things that we use everyday are RED.  Some children observed that some apples are RED.
We learned that apples are eaten with honey on Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) because we want a sweet new year! Each child got to taste apples dipped in honey.  We discovered that honey is SWEET and also very STICKY. The children noticed that honey is YELLOW.
After our delicious apple experience, we traced our fingers over the SMOOTH apple and felt its round shape.  We got to dip an apple in RED paint and stamp the apple shape onto our Rosh Hashana cards!

The First Week of School

Wow! what an exciting first week! We are so happy that everyone adjusted really well. The children enjoyed exploring our classroom, discovering new friends and getting used to the routine.  Our Nursery friends played in the classroom centers, such as Dramatic Play, Blocks, Manipulatives and of course, everyone had fun playing outside!
On Thursday, we started to review our colors.  Each child chose their favorite color to paint with.  We then focused on the color RED.
On Friday, we had a special challah baking activity.  Our music teacher, Morah Rivki also came to our class for some music fun.  We ended off our week with a model Shabbos table.  Morah Mushky and I are looking forward to an exciting year, full of learning, exploration and fun!
