GETTING READY FOR PESACH

Nursery 1 has started to prepare for the upcoming holiday of Pesach. We learned that a long time ago, the Jews were slaves in Egypt. Egypt had a king named King Paroh (Pharoh). He was not very nice to the Jews and made them work very hard. He did not even let them rest! When Moshe (Moses) was sent by Hashem to take them out, King Paroh said "No, No, No! I will not let them go!" We learned a song about King Paroh and his lack of kindness.

Oh listen, Oh listen, Oh listen King Pharaoh.
Oh listen, oh listen, please let my people go.
They work so hard all day,
They want to go away,
King Pharaoh, King Pharaoh, what do you say?
"No, no, no, I will not let them go".
"No, no, no, I will not let them go".

So Hashem sent 10 punishments to Paroh. After that he let the Jews go. We celebrate Pesach to remember this.
On Pesach, there are many things that we do differently. We have a Seder. At the Seder we set up a Seder plate, drink four cups of wine/grape juice and eat crunchy Matzo!

Our friends are decorating their Afikomen bags

Inna, Leah and Shimon are creating their own "Seder plate"

We read a couple of books about Pesach. We also read a "Haggadah"

Starting to make our very own Haggadahs!

Our friends also got to help clean the classroom for Pesach, see a Seder table, and  pretend to do some of the steps of the Seder.

Letter I

Our class learned all about the the letter I. I consists of 3 lines. One on top, one going down, and one on the bottom. Letter I makes different sounds; I is for our friend Inna (EEE sound)
I is for Ice cream (eye sound)
I is for Inside (ih sound)

We sang our Letter I song:
Tune to "Do you know the Muffin man?"

Do you know the Ice cream man?
The Ice cream man, the Ice cream man?
Do you know the Ice cream man who likes to sing with me?
Oh, he likes the Letter I,
The Letter I, the Letter I.
Oh he likes the Letter I,
and likes to sing with me!

We all enjoyed Ice cream afterwards!
Some of our friends decided that I is a very fun and yummy letter!

We also painted and glued our own letter I made out of 3 sticks!
