Tova Leah and her parents gave this special gift to our classroom to share with all of our friends in honor of Tova Leah's 3rd birthday. Thank you Goldsteyn Family!

Manya and our friends are playing with the fun counting cans that the Goldsteyn Family gave to our class in honor of Tova Leah's birthday.

ALL ABOUT ME UNIT

Our class has started an "ALL ABOUT ME" Unit.  We began by talking about how every one of us is special. Morah handed out mirrors. We looked inside and saw...Ourselves! We each have eyes, a nose, a mouth, ears and hair. Our class discussed that although we are similar in this way, each persons face/body is different. We looked at Brandon's hair and Manya's hair. Their hair is light. We then looked at Arik's, Naomi's, Mariella's, Leyla's, Tova Leah's, Leah's, Inna's, Shimon's, Mark's, Benjamin's and Morah's hair. Their hair is Dark Brown. Our class read a book about everyone being a special individual.
The book is called "What I Like About Me!"
We decorated special magnets with our pictures on it. We are proud to be special!  Nursery friends also created miniature paper cutouts of themselves.

Brandon's and Naomi's cutouts
Our friends got to play with mini "people" in the block center. These mini "people" have pictures of each child. Through this, children get to expand their imaginations in innovative ways.  This enables the children to "go" places or "be" people they want to be (ie. a fireman riding on a fire truck...etc.) It also helps them play out scenarios they deal with or imagine.
Here are some of our friends playing with their own mini "people".

Leyla is playing with hers and Naomi's mini "person"
Mariella and Arik are building a building for their mini "people"
Our friends also enjoyed playing pretend play. Their imaginations soared with the endless possibilities of what they can be when they grow up. Mark and Mariella decided that when they grow up, they just want to be grown ups.

Mark and Mariella are all grown up! Mark is a Daddy wearing a tie and holding his baby. Mariella is a Mommy.

We will continue our unit with exploring our families!

Finishing Our Fall Unit

Our friends have finished their unit on Fall.  We reviewed all the changes that happen in this season.  Some of the changes we discussed were; colder weather, the leaves on the trees change colors and fall to the ground, and we wear warmer clothing.
We also sang our song about leaves.

Tune To: London Bridges Falling Down
All the leaves are falling down,
falling down, falling down,
All the leaves are falling down,
Red, Orange, Yellow and Brown!

Leyla is painting a picture with the color RED. We know that RED is a Fall color too!
Nursery 1 took a trip to Prospect Park as a conclusion to our Fall unit.  Our class would like to thank Naomi's Mom, Zoya, Mariella's Dad, Gennady, Arik's Mom, Marina and Leah's Savta for joining us on this wonderful trip.
In Prospect Park, we saw many trees that changed color. We saw Red trees, Yellow trees, Orange trees and Green trees.  All of our friends noticed that there were leaves on the ground.

A PEEK AT THE PAST WEEK

Our Nursery friends are learning how to clean up by themselves! How exciting!

Brandon is sweeping up some cereal that spilled

Leyla is washing the tables after our Birthday party
We really enjoyed experimenting and discovering the ABC's with our magnetic alphabet letters.

We did lots of discovering this week.  Here Tova Leah discovered that you can trace shapes and letters in the sand!

Tova Leah is drawing pictures in the sand that fell onto the floor.  Tova Leah also helped clean up the sand!
The children had fun playing outside in the nice weather this week.

Mariella and Leyla found a hop scotch game. We took turns practicing how to count and jump.  So much fun!

We ended off a busy week with Morah Rivki's Music class...
and an exciting Shabbos Party.  Mariella was our Shabbos Mommy and Benjamin was our Shabbos Daddy.

Mariella was our Shabbos Mommy this past week.  She is getting ready to light the Shabbos candles.
Benjamin is our Shabbos Daddy.  He is making "Kiddush".

Fall Unit

Our Nursery friends have finished the Fall Unit! We discussed how the weather changes by getting colder.  We know what to wear when its cold outside! A sweater, jacket, hat and warm socks!

Our friends are putting Fall clothing on this boy
We also discussed how the leaves change colors.  After collecting Leaves from around the neighborhood, we created Mr. Leaf. Watch how the children get creative in designing their own leaf people!

Arik is making his leaf person

Mr. Leaf
Our Nursery 1 friends also got to take a close look at the leaves we collected.  We used MAGNIFYING GLASSES (wow what a hard word, can you say it?) to look at our leaves.  Some of the children noticed that leaves have veins, spots and cracks.

Manya is looking at a leaf through a magnifying glass
Our friends noticed that everything looks much BIGGER through a magnifying glass
Mariella and Inna are looking at leaves

Mariella is looking at a leaf through her magnifying glass.  What do you think she sees?
Benjamin took his magnifying glass around the classroom to discover what our daily objects look like when they are bigger.  Benjamin is looking at BLUE play dough with his magnifying glass.

A PEEK AT THE PAST WEEK

We were so happy to see all of our friends after the holiday of Sukkos! Our Nursery class finished off the week with a Shabbos Party!

Tova Leah was our Shabbos Mommy last week.  She lit the Shabbos candles with Morah.

Shimon was our Shabbos Daddy.  He is making "Kiddush".

FALL UNIT

This week, our Nursery friends started their unit on Fall. We noticed that the weather is changing and it is starting to get cold outside. We learned that we wear jackets outside to keep ourselves warm.  We also discovered other changes that occur in this season, such as the color of the leaves on the trees. Our friends took a walk outside to find leaves.  We saw leaves on the trees and leaves on the floor! We know that leaves fall off the trees in the Fall. Our class learned a song about leaves:

(Tune to: London Bridges falling down)
All the leaves are falling down,
Falling down, falling down,
All the leaves are falling down,
Red, Orange, Yellow and Brown.

Our friends found many Yellow and Brown leaves.

Our friends are walking on Brighton 6th st. in search of leaves

Brandon, Izik and Mariella put the leaves that they found into a bag.

Naomi is showing us an interesting leaf that she found.

Tova Leah found a leaf that is Brown.

after our search for leaves finished, we took an exciting trip to the park!

Arik is having fun on the twirly slide

Manya is getting ready to slide down
We finished off the day with an innovative Seasons matching game.
We learned which clothing articles and items area appropriate for each season.
