My Community- Transportation (con.)

Our Nursery 1 friends are continuing to learn all about the different ways we get around. We can drive in cars, trucks and vans. We can fly on an airplane or helicopter. We can also ride on a train or a boat.
Our class learned a special song about airplanes:

I'm a Little Airplane
Tune to: I'm a little teapot

I'm a little airplane, way up high!
with my great big wings, watch me fly!
When the pilot tells me, I will come down.
swooping and gliding to the ground.

Our friends sorted out the different methods of transportation and we created a chart.
Our transportation chart
We know that cars, trucks and buses drive on the street. Trains ride on tracks. Tracktors drive on grass or dirt. Boats sail on water and airplanes and helicopters fly in the air.  We started off the week by making little cars for our bulletin board.  Each car has 4 different kinds of shapes:
a half circle (top of the car)
a long rectangle (base of the car)
2 circles (the wheels)
and 2 squares (windows)
each car also has a driver. Can you spot your friends driving around?
Our community bulletin board
Nursery 1 did many excersizes about transportation. We flew like airplanes!
Pretending to fly!
And we drove our cars.
Driving our special cars
We loved learning about getting around!

My Community- The Grocery Store

Our class is continuing our community unit. We are learning about the different places that make up our community. We know that each neighborhood and community has a grocery store.  We read a book about shopping.
We also practiced selecting items and paying for them with MONEY. Afterwards, we all took a trip to the grocery store!
Nursery 1 at the grocery!
At the store, we selected fruits and vegetables and put them in our basket.
Our Nursery friends are looking at the fruits and vegetables

Mark chose a green pepper. He is putting it into a bag.

Naomi chose red tomatoes. She is putting them into a bag.

Manya chose green cucumbers for our salad!

Our friends then paid the cashier for the food. We each carried a vegetable or fruit back to school.
When we got back, we carfully cut and prepared 2 different salads for our friends to enjoy.
Nursery 1 friends prepared the vegetables for salad.

Mariella is working carefully to cut a cucumber with a plastic knife.

Leyla and Tova Leah are carefully cutting vegetables for our salad.

Benjamin is working hard to cut those cucumbers. Good work!

We made a vegetable salad
and a fruit salad for dessert.

Aleph-Bais (Hebrew Alphabet)

Nursery 1 friends have started learning the Aleph-Bais! We learned all about the letter Aleph.

Introduction to the letter Aleph
Aleph makes an AAHH sound. Aleph  is for Arik and Aviron (airplane)

We learned that Aleph has 3 lines. One line in the middle, one line on top and one line on the bottom!

Inna is using her sense of touch to feel our soft Aleph.

Shimon is discovering the shape and touch of the letter Aleph.

Mariella is tracing her fingers over the shape of the letter Aleph.

Tova Leah is tracing her fingers over the Aleph.

Our friends are creating their own letter Alephs out of Popsicle sticks

Shimon made his very own Aleph. Hurray!

Our friends are tracing the letter Aleph in smooth shaving cream.
