Winter!
Nursery 1 has learned all about winter last week! We know that it gets cold outside. If it gets cold enough, the rain and water in puddles freeze! We looked at some pictures of winter and summer. We compared them: Winter is cold and Summer is warm.

| Winter |

| Summer |
Can you tell the difference in these two photos? Most of our friends like Summer the best!
Because things freeze in the winter, we learned all about liquids turning into solids when they become too cold. To see this, each child chose a paint (liquid, wet like water) and put it in the freezer on a stick. The next day, we had paintsicles to paint with!

We also learned that in the winter it snows. We make sure to dress warmly. Our friends practiced zipping their coats by themselves!
We learned a song about snow!
"If all the snowflakes were cupcakes and milkshakes,
oh what a snow it would be!
Standing outside with my mouth open wide,
Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah!"
We also made snow men out of glue and shaving cream. When it dried, it was soft and fluffy, almost like snow!

Letter "B"
Nursery 1 learned the letter B! B has a straight line on the side, and 2 curved lines in the front.
Many words start with the letter B.
Our friends Benjamin and Brandon start with the letter B!
Banana's also start with the letter B! We made a B out of Banana's because bananas can be straight AND curved!

Our Community- The LAUNDROMAT! (cont.)
Our class is continuing our Community unit. We already learned about transportation, and the grocery. Nursery 1 friends discovered that our community (neighborhood) also has a laundromat for everyone to come and do their laundry. Most friends have washing machines at home, and every single friend is a proud mommy's helper for laundry. Great work friends!
We know that in order to do laundry, we need 4 things
1) Dirty laundry
2) A washing machine
3)Water
4)Soap
Our Nursery 1 friends even took a trip to the laundromat and did their classroom laundry!

Our friends also read a book about the Laundromat.
As an activity, we created our own mini sensory washing machine collages. We added different types of cloth and material into our washing machine. Some pieces were bumpy, some were lacy, others were silky. Which clothes can you put in a washing machine?
